For Shaundra

Hmm… I was planning to do something for you B-day, but I forgot, didn’t write down the date, left my clock on my other computer, all that jazz. So any way, with out any futher Blah!,

Shaundra opened the card. “Happy Birthday. Wishing you my Belated Best. Matt.” She eyed the gift. Matt was a guy. Creative, but not very good at gifts. It was well wrapped, but that meant little. Either he had spent a lot of time wrapping it or had someone else did it for him. At least it was too small to be clothes or shoes or anything like that. One look at Matt and you could describe his entire wardrobe. Its almost like those stains were intentional. She set the lovely store bought card down and carefully peeled back the paper.

A book.

Of course a book. Matt was notorious for his championing of books. He even had spent a week or two trying to pick up the title Robin Book. He had a sketch of it and everything. So what else could he give but a book. Shaundra pulled the rest of the paper off. Matt was normally good at the whole book giving thing. What could he have found?

Hmm… The word Portals in a flowing golden script was the only thing marking the outside of the book.

Shaundra tossed the book into the rest of her pile of loot. There would be time to read it later. After the Simpsons, of course….
